Description
After graduating with a degree in computer engineering from the Royal Military College of Canada in 1987, Paul Raymond embarked on a career path where his business acumen and leadership skills served him well. For more than ten years, his keen business acumen and visionary leadership propelled Alithya's growth and reputation as a trusted advisor in strategy and digital transformation, while fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion at all levels of the company.
After serving as an officer in electronic and communications engineering for Canada's Department of National Defense, Paul moved into the private sector in 1993. With his skills in IT strategy and business analysis, he held various management positions. He worked for 17 years at a global technology company, where he held the position of Senior Vice President of Business Engineering. In April 2011, he joined the Alithya team as President and Chief Operating Officer, when the company was still in its infancy and had some 200 professionals. The following year, Paul was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer, a milestone that marked the beginning of continued growth for Alithya, which became a publicly traded company on the Toronto Stock Exchange and now employs teams from around the world.
In 2016, Paul's leadership and entrepreneurial talent were recognized by Ernst & Young, which named him Quebec Entrepreneur of the Year in the information technology sector. Later that year, Alithya became the first technology services company to join the 30% Club, an organization of more than 1,000 CEOs and board chairs from some 20 countries whose mission is to increase the representation of women on boards and in senior management positions. In 2017, Paul received the Grand Prix National Créateurs d'emplois et de prospérité du Québec (Quebec National Grand Prize for Job and Prosperity Creation) on behalf of Alithya, awarded by the Conseil du Patronat du Québec (Quebec Employers Council). Then, in 2020, he received the Investissement Québec CEO Emeritus Award, a distinction for business leaders in Quebec's technology industry.
With 30 years of experience in the business world, he is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors and served for 10 years as president of the Maple Leaf Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to educational exchanges between Canada and the United States. Paul has also volunteered his time and leadership skills for philanthropic causes. He served as president of the Make-A-Wish Foundation (Quebec chapter) for seven years, guiding the organization in its important mission of making the dreams of sick children come true. He also actively supports organizations such as Cybercap, helping to prepare younger generations for the digital future.
