Description

Luc Fortin is President and Chief Executive Officer, TMX Global Markets and Post-Trade. Mr. Fortin leads the growth of equity, derivatives, and fixed income markets, and oversees the delivery of services that ensure a world-class customer experience globally. In 2021, his mandate was expanded to include oversight and strategic direction of CDCC and CDS, which constitute TMX's post-trade operations and are essential components of Canada's capital markets infrastructure.

Mr. Fortin joined the Montréal Exchange in June 2016 as Managing Director, Derivatives Trading. At that time, he had 25 years of experience in Canada's financial markets, where he led client-facing teams in the fixed income and derivatives sectors. Prior to joining the Montreal Exchange, he was Managing Director and Canadian Head of Institutional Clients at HSBC Bank Canada. In this role, Mr. Fortin led HSBC's direct relationship activities with institutional clients across Canada in the rates and credit, derivatives, and foreign exchange markets, as well as in the money markets. He previously held senior management positions at TD Bank and TD Securities.

Mr. Fortin serves on the boards of directors of CDCC, Canada's derivatives clearing house, and CDS, Canada's clearing house for equity and fixed income securities. He also serves on the boards of directors of BOX Holdings Group LLC and BOX Market LLC (BOX), a US stock options market, as well as on the Board of Governors of Finance Montréal.

Mr. Fortin is a graduate of the TD Securities Leadership Program at the Ivey Business School and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Ottawa.
