Jean Boulet
Minister of Labor and Minister responsible for the Mauricie region | Government of Quebec
Description
Jean Boulet is a Quebec lawyer and politician who was elected to the Quebec National Assembly in the 2018 provincial election. He represents the electoral district of Trois-Rivières under the banner of the Coalition Avenir Québec.
A lawyer specializing in labor law, he was appointed Minister of Labor, Employment, and Social Solidarity on October 18, 2018, and Minister responsible for the Mauricie region. On November 24, 2021, he was concurrently appointed Minister of Immigration, Francization, and Integration, replacing Nadine Girault.
After a controversy over newcomers during the 2022 election campaign, despite his re-election, he lost several ministerial responsibilities, but retained his position as Minister of Labor and his responsibilities as Minister responsible for the Mauricie region, to which were added those of Minister responsible for the Nord-du-Québec region in the new cabinet of October 2022, and a year later, on October 19, 2023, those of Minister responsible for the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region.
