
Mapi Mobwano

Description
Mapi Mobwano has over 20 years of experience in the mining industry. Before joining ArcelorMittal in 2019, he was Chief Operating Officer of Anglo American's Sishen mine, Africa's largest mine with an annual production of around 30 million tons of finished product and over 240 million tons in total volume. In particular, he was responsible for a transformation aimed at improving the mine's productivity and competitive position. From 2010 to 2017, Mapi Mobwano was Managing Director of Operations at Glencore/Xstrata's Goedgevonden Complex. A native of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mapi Mobwano has lived most of his life in South Africa and has obtained South African citizenship. He holds a B.Sc. in Mining Engineering, a Master's degree in Engineering, Mineral Resource Management from the University of Witwatersrand (South Africa) and an MBA from the University of Cape Town.
Mapi Mobwano sits on the board of directors of the Quebec Employers Council.
